Does the FX render the WR obsolete?

My bet is if it is like the Yz it will be red sticker in Cali and you can't plate it

What bike are you talking about????

Yes it is red sticker like the YZ line.

They have the RS version which is mapped like the KTM's are.....and they are green/plated.

Hmmm. I still own a house in Tucson - I wonder if I took a little tax-deductible drive out there to (check on my rental property) snag a new 450FX and threw on a lighting kit, if I could get it plated right then and there before heading back here. I am now seriously considering this. It would definitely be a trek.

Don't need a lighting kit to get a plate in AZ.  Just a place of residence.

 

You can have it shipped to you for $399.  Takes about 10 days.  Cheaper than driving or flying.

RR 430 is 252 wet.

 

 

that weight is very hard to imagine...   my 350xcf is 250 wet

 

 

their numbers are all over the place.

The RR series dry weights per Beta:
350 = 234
390 = 234
430 = 234
480 = 235

All have a 2 gallon tank.

well yes, "per beta" being the key.  and they have not changed once in the last 4 years from what i can tell.    the 350rr and 430rr have two weights associated to them since 2013. 234lbs and 237lbs.   regardless, they feel much heavier, and even the xTrainer feels heavy compared to a ktm 300, and they have the X listed at 218 dry.   just saying.

Fx/WR same bike optioned differently for different markets. It's also a smart way too show that the new WR's are just as "ready to race" as the competition.

It makes more sense in Aus/EU where WR's come with a horn, indicators and registration from the dealers door.

I was perusing the AZDOT (Service Arizona) website today and saw mention that the initial registration has to be in person - which makes sense - where did you see the by mail 10-day $399 deal? I may qualify for one of the exemptions, so I'm going to make some calls pretty soon and see if I can work this. As much as I want that YZFX, the state of FL requires a headlight to be legal, so it might as well be a WR since they are pretty close. Will re-think as I get closer, because I only care about being street legal so I can ride on the hundreds of acres of gov't range land right out of my garage. Of course the ol' '11 runs fine...

Search 'motorcycle transport' on google.

There are states closer than AZ that have the same kind of loose plating laws.

That's funny, I know a few guys with the latest generation 300xc/xc-w's and they all swear my 300rr feels like the lighter bike even that it's really ~5lbs heavier. Doesn't help when you have a bastardized starter design that hangs off the side of the cylinder, etc.

FX will eventually replace my WR. I don't need lights and here in Montana I can plate a yz if I want. For me it's the perfect bike.

Yea, last weekend I ran outta talent and we had to do some trail side maintenance. Looped the bike on an uphill and ripped the back end off the bike. We got back on the trail after dark :shocked:

Pretty much gotta have lights on a dirt bike. Unless it's a race bike. I'm surprised they made the fx.

I rode for years without a headlight and have been caught out multiple times in the dark. It's not fun tip-toeing down a rocky singletrack hill when you can't see more than a couple feet in front of you. Now my main rides all have headlights, I sometimes plan a ride so as to come back in the dark.
