Has anyone installed an IMS 2.9 gallon tank yet? Can you post a picture?

Thanks.

It's butt ugly. You remove the shrouds as the tank has shrouds that hold gas.

i bought the core because i still wanted to use the stock clutch lever with the stock feel because even though it is not necessary to clutch when shifting i like to do it anyway because i get smoother and more controlled shifts with the hand actuated clutch.

additionally the core uses more friction and steels than the cheaper clutch so it has more holding power.

the only down side to the core is the clutch engagement cannot be adjusted to bump start at the clutch perch.

when it comes to my bike, money is no object it is the 1 thing i have that ill piss money at and not give a crap what it costs!

aren't all guys allowed to have at least 1 thing they can spend money like that on?

Yeah, the problem starts when you have 4 or 5 things like that.

I have one on order. Ims said they are back ordered and should ship in about two weeks.

I've seen some pics and am not a fan of the looks, but I don't think I can get away with the 2.5 gal without having to make extra alt gas stops at the desert races, so ugly it is. I just hope it doesn't make the bike any wider.

I think part of the ugly looks is it doesn't have any decals on it. You might be able to put some from a YZ. It is likely a little wider.

There is a picture of a yz450f on page 14 with an ims tank, isn't that a 2.9? It doesn't use the shrouds for fuel.

The EXP setup is significantly weaker eliminating a bunch of friction discs. Nowhere near enough grip for a 60hp bike. Rode the EXP once and got the upgrade kit for the Core EXP.

The YZf uses a different tank than the fx and WR.

The 450FX uses the same tank from IMS that is for the 250FX. I should have mine installed shortly. It is not as nice fitting as the stock tank but I need the additional range.

The IMS 2.5 is not bad at all. I would rather carry the .5 then deal with the wrap around oversize style.

Cycra Ultra Pro bend. Never had Cycra, very impressed with the quality. The mounts are awesome, don't know the difference in other models. The vent option is what it is. Black and the mounts... Worth the 50.00, sure it is!

ive ridden my 2013 wr with 2.1 gallon tank for 60+ miles of rocky terrain and technical tight slow sections and never ran out. i do have a small fuel bottle i can throw in my backback / hydration bag with another .25 gallons in it but have never needed it.

i would prefer to pack the extra fuel than load the bike up. if IMS made a tank that was just .5 gallon bigger and fit like stock i would buy it. but i have not been able to find a picture of the 2.5 gallon tank installed on a 450FX to decide if i want it or not.

I'm with you. On my 07 WR I could get about 75 miles out of it. The stuff I ride is single track technical and desert single track. I just don't ride a lot of ATV roads for miles and miles. So hearing you got 60+ out of your FI WR is encouraging to me. I'm definitely packing fuel if necessary for the longer rides, but 60 and under will work for a lot of riding. So I'm staying put to see how it works out.

Now you just need to change those awful stock Yamaha grips..

Right now the 2.5 gal tank is dry break only.

FWIW the very first time my low fuel light came on with the WR i was in a panic! i couldnt see the fuel and started conserving fuel all the way back to the truck. i had ridden about 35 miles by then. so i went to the gas station and topped it off and i was only able to put .8 gallons in! the low fuel warning light is way too soon. so if i have a 2.1 gallon tank and my light came on at under a gallon used im fairly certain the bike would go 70+ miles on a tank. in desert riding at moderate speeds im confident you could get 80 out of a tank
