My coworkers son works there, he has one on his DRZ and he loves it :excuseme: NEVER have to open it up to make adjustments  has a fuel pump so no bog at all, I'm real tempted to get one but first I have to install the JD kit I bought here in the TT store, see how I like it

I'll be a guinea pig, plus I get a better discount   than the Ebay auction

There are a couple guys on here running it with good results from what Ive read.
That ebay at shows "dyno tested results for 5HP gain" Last literature I saw
didnt have any real numbers on it. Id like to see that guy supply a dyno chart
of a drz400s with & without the edlebrock since he claims 5hp.

Ive had good luck with my stock mikuni between sea level & 7000ft without rejetting.
Doing the dyno jet sunday so Im sure Ill be much happier after that,

Id like to see a side by side comparo with the stock mikuni S carb Dynojeted with the 3x3, the edlebrock and an
FCR transplant on the S. The edlebrock claims no muss no fuss adjusting etc, but like I said
I have not had the issues the others have claimed about poor response & function from the stock mikuni.

I just installed one two weeks ago along with a full Yoshimura system with mid TEC kit. I have only been able to ride one weekend but what a difference, It's like riding a new bike. :D

The off idle throttle response is just phenomenal. I have no way to compare it to the FCR carb, but for $405.00 to my door it was well worth it, I love it.

Now I'm just waiting for the snow to melt, so don't have to travel 70 miles to ride

My stock cv carb is working great. A new mud park opened up close to my house this weekend and had a real good test session. I had no problems with any bog what so ever. The money I spent on the yosh pipe seems a better way to go to me. Just another opinion. ;)

No I did not get it from e-bay I bought it direct from Barnum Pro Products in Phelan, CA. (706)868-8097

By the way I had been running with the stock carb, 3x3 Mod, and dynojet kit, it worked well. But I just didn’t think the bike worked as well as it could have, I wanted more, so I decided just to go for something different. :goofy:

The FCR off of the dirt version seemed to be a good choice but what the heck I thought; I wanted to try one of the Edelbrock carburetor. :usa:

Not that there is anything wrong with a CV carburetor but it just doesn’t belong on a Dirt Bike. :(

I was the one who started the thread on the Edelbrock carb a few months ago. I hadn't thought much of it until yesterday when I rode a friends brand new, and completely stock 2004 DRZ-400S. It reminded me of what I was putting up with before. Ugh.

My reasons for doing the Edelbrock rather than the FCR was ease of tuning and cost. I was basing my cost estimate on Matt's DRZ Info page, which showed a cost of over $1000 to use the FCR. However, Burned has updated that cost to around $500, making it MUCH more attractive for someone wanting absolute best performance.

I'm still glad I tried the Edelbrock, as SO FAR, I haven't had any tuning issues at all. The throttle response has also been great and has changed my riding style.

My only complaint is the lack of a choke for cold weather starting. The accelerator pump allows it to start right away, but it dies right after, and takes a couple of tries to keep it running. This has only exhibited itself as the temperature has dropped into the 50's, it didn't happen when I first put the carb on, and doesn't happen at all once it's warmed up at any temperature.

Not the end of the world, and for the ease of tuning, well worth it.

My friend Robert has had similar results, although he had a mechanical issue with a sticking float valve. He found and fixed the problem by filing off a machining error.

Overall, I still say the Edelbrock is great for a person wanting better than CV performance with instant throttle response, and ease of tuning. I still concede that the FCR is the best carb for someone who wants top performance and is willing to make jetting and needle changes for different ride locations.

does it come ready to bolt-on or do you have to buy other accessories to make it work ?

I had to buy an intake pipe and clamp from Suzuki just under $20.00.

The kit came with the Carb, complete throttle housing and cables, two extra needles, extra needle spring and tuning tool all the hoses for Gas, Vacuum and crankcase vent. There was very good instruction on installing and tuning the carb.

I installed the carb and exhaust system at the same time, fired it up made my initial adjustment for the ideal to mid range which involves opening the throttle to full (with engine off), depressing this little wheel on the top of the carburetor and turning it clockwise for rich counterclockwise for lean.

At first it seemed rich so leaned it down 4 clicks a little at a time, it ships at 12 clicks from full rich. I went for a short 15 mile road ride made one more adjustment along side the road (1 click richer) I latter went back 1 click lean.

I live at 1800 feet above sea level, I’m sure I well find it somewhat rich when I ride in the hills this summer but it will be easy to adjust.

Tim
