Yz 400f year model

How do i tell what year my 400f is?

Do a vin search on Google. It's either a 98 or 99 and there identical far as I know

Im trying to find a rear wheel. Apparently 99 have a slighty larger axle. Thanks i'll do a search

As best I can tell 98 has a W as the 10th digit in the VIN and 99s have an X

Also 98s are Yz400FK and 99s are YZ400FL. Not part of the VIN but still handy to know.

'98 rear axles were 20mm, '99-'08 were 22mm. 

 

As best I can tell 98 has a W as the 10th digit in the VIN and 99s have an X

 

This is correct.
