2007 Aprilia RXV450: how do I know if it's a good one?

Isn't there a way to see if the engine has had "upgrades" or is not a time bomb by looking at the color of the case sealant? 

 

What should I know.

Black RTV on the engine cases is the better or later models. Orange was the problematic ones but I didn't have any issues with my 07 SXV 550 (orange) and my brother still has it.

What should I know.

Buy a new or luck and since they don't make them it will be luck. Better to buy a cheap non runner then pay good dollars by what you think and hope is a good one to find it junk. There is not any major difference between any of the models that are worth worrying about. The late 07 chance to black seal. The 08's have cold start knob, different suspension knuckle and some of the late 07's, dual mapping switch and that's about it. The 09/10 has CRF looking swingarm and slims fuel tank.
