Flywheel weight for TM250

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has tried out a FWW on a 2010 TM250?

Just looking to fill in the bottom part of the power range, engine is very much and mid and up motor at the moment, and its been suggested to try a FWW to smooth it out.

Any thoughts on what weight would be the best option for 90% mx riding?   Steahly have the following options - 6,8,10,12 ounce

Havent touched the timing, wouldnt know where to start to be honest.

It does have a changable map switch though, didnt notice much difference however.

Open the cover on the flywheel side.

You will see the bolts that hold the coil plate in position. Mark your current setting and advance or retard 1 degree at a time.(move your marks 1mm apart)

Try a few settings and see if you get an improvement.

Okay thanks.   Will this affect jetting as well?

I tried a flywheel weight for my 12 tm 250en, but i didn't really like it. It took a lot of the snappy power out of the bike that i liked. It did make it harder to stall but took to much away from the power curve for my liking. Also you will need a bigger ignition cover and a stepped gear shift leaver so it could get expensive.

Thanks for the heads up with this.

I have a Steahly 12oz on my 250mx 2-T and I like it.  Steahly kit came with the ignition cover spacer and no other mods needed.

Not sure if thats the same for an EN ignition cover vs mx... or 4 stoke vs 2... but the Steahly kit for the 2T says EN as well for the same part number kit as the one I used on my mx.
