Hi guys. My friend has a 2008 YZ450f with close ratio track gearing and his bike just won't keep up with my CRF. We ride mostly dessert riding and 'll be cruising in 3rd or 4th gear while he is topped out in 5th gear. We would like to put wider ratio gears in it and we can buy the gears for a WR450 off of Ebay or something. My question is will they just drop in without machining or any other modifications? as long as it's the same year?  We aren't into electric start or anything just dropping some WR gears into the YZF

Unless your is an X, it shouldn't be that different.  What sprockets is he geared up with?
