Recommended Posts

I mean What the f*********************************************************************k, These guys want to kill me off don't they :/ I have been hounded by the VP of a race org about doing it so I guess this coming Saturday I will give it a try in a quick 20min moto and see if it is something I can handle.

Compared to a motard, you have no idea. 600 is still in 3rd gear where a 450 motard tops out. Liter bike is just 140+ mph insanity (you got to SO respect the power). Then there's the weight and the totally different riding style. Have fun, you're soon to learn why when people tell me I should try a motard, I think "yeah, that would be nice"..  ?

I can agree with Ole hillbilly, it is "WAY" different that SM. That is why I don't own a crotchrocket (I'd be dead by now).

Really, you want to screw your knees up worse????

Down here they have some instructor lead classes at some of the tracks (Jensen and Sebring) and I can tell you after being there it doesn't take much to send your azz to the hospital (I watched many a noob go down at low speed and get snaggled, even with gear on!!).

But I know Debi and I'll be looking for the postings. (e.g. Knees jacked up but I still finished, Came in way too hot to turn #2 and went down hard - on serious meds!, Got bumped from behind and highsided -picking rubble out of my hands and azz)

You go Girl!!! ?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh believe you me, I know this all to well hence why I have never done it ? Granted my knees are shot, back is shot, shoulders are shot and so on but (yes the BUT hehe) maybe try the little 250/300 class if someone pays LMAO.

NOOOOOOOO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY am I buying a bike, setting it up, buying leathers and so on to get into this part of the sport. My god I think they forgot I'm 53 not 35 bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. I will stick with my Supermoto racing as at least I know where I excel and need work. Hell Don, I can't ride all cramped up like that ?

I will give it a shot on one of the bikes they guys want me to try to just see this Saturday if it's not raining :D

Before you even think of riding a track, get on line and read thru some material (there has to be some instructional stuff out there). Biggest issue will be entry/exit routing into/outta corners and whipping that thing between your legs around (trust me, your inner thigh/private area muscles will be tired after that day from squeezing the chit out of the tank area!!!)

Girl you are certifiable do you know that?

Yeah I'm back after a long winter getting back problems and shoulder problems under control. Best advice guys. Don't get Lyme Disease. It really F's you over big time. Had to change doctors having moved after retirement. Thought the new doc would take away some of my meds. Instead he said "You aren't taking enough meds" I kicked and screamed but the pain finally made me give in and guess what? It worked. So We got the bikes out the first of April and hit our trails. I don't seem to grow more carefully, I seem to go faster every year.

Okay, back to the sport bike thing. I have an old VTR 250 that I've rode on the street. Big difference. You will notice the center of gravity is different. the weight is different, seat positioning is different everything is different than a dirt bike. My biggest complaint is that by the end of a ride my neck was killing me from reach and positioning not to mention helmet weight. Personally I would take my dirt bike over the sport bike any day of the week as far as comfort level is concerned so I'm anxious to hear how you did and what you think of them compaired to racing dirt.

By the way, how ARE you doing?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think you may be correct about me bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. I just took my SM race bike out to the 2.5 mile road course and SPANKED some sport bikers. Had them target fixating on me while I am sliding sideways past them at about 80 mph hehe. Well I mean come on, they left off the throttle and do there rev macth down shifting while I am still WOT in 6th going down the hill into a 110 degree right hander and toss it sideways about a 1/2 inch from the grass and I see one guy staring at me lol. Then while in full tuck (maybe 113mph as I was running 13/50 gearing) I wave to one my my GF's and got some massive headshake and just powered through it going into turn one wide open hehe.

Yeah, sport bikes I seriously can't ride for very long due to the back, hips, knees, shoulders and other issues so if I do get into this I plan to run Open Singles and pick up a nice KTM560SMR and just ride it like a Supermoto but at higher speeds. Was fun but also kinda lame as I was always WOT through the turns except for like 2. Oh I was doing 3rd through 6th gear power wheelies out of the bus stop (chicane at the end of the last long left hander leading onto the front straight) and beating the bikes out of that turn and the first 1/16 of the long front straight :D

Oh hell yes, Lyme's disease SUCKS ASS! So hope you can get this under control. I have to go see my doc again soon as I am having some major major back issues lately which seem to have gotten worse. The only bright side is this has taken the pain I feel in my knees down a lot bwaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha. So glad for Aleve and the Tequila after riding ?.

You had to go and quote that one little part of my post on a day I am to go ride and awakened early due to that said back pain LMAO.  Yes I will be taking it easy today, I have to go as I am to teach a bunch of newbies today.

 Coffee time!

Do a track day on a sportbike. speeds are much higher than sumo, and in my opinion the risks of injury accelerate with that carried speed. I've enjoyed track days, and the speed is much greater at big tracks like Willow Springs. Entry speed into turn 8 is 135+. top speed down the front straight easily 160+. I left that hobby when I started seeing a lot more injuries. I then had to weigh my decision on whether or not I could afford to be laid up for a while from crashing. When you start seeing seasoned vets wadding their superbike in front of you it makes you think.

Was it fun? You bet. I miss my CBR954 and the wife sure misses her 600 F4i. But now we have much more fun in the dirt.

Oh it won't be on the big sport bikes, 1 I don't want to spend that kind of $$$ on a bike + set-up, 2 I race Supermoto and have the bike all dialed for it, 3 I don't want to spend a few grand for leathers, boots, gloves, and such, 4 the costs are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than I pay for Supermoto (OK the tires cost the same),5 when I go down I don't want to spend a grand + to fix it as with my Supermoto when I crash it I pick it back up and go on (if I didn't break my body),

I would race open single but need to once again find the right bike (they are trying to get me to race the 2016 ktm 390 cup) but now the KTM 390 does look fun :D

I plan to stick with my Supermoto racing as it is way cheaper even with traveling ?
