Last year I installed a Cylinder Works 470 Big Bore Kit and a GYTR Head and Cams onto my 2013 YZ450F. It runs amazing! (Power is similar to that of the 2014/15 YZ450F) In the world of Professional Hillclimbing however, we use all the power we can get, so I am installing NOS to help my 470 compete!

Adding a Cold Fusion Nitrous Kit and larger radiators to my 470cc hillclimber!

4702.jpg

Used right side lower motor mount bolt to mount the solenoids. Black line is fuel coming from splice/tee in the stock fuel line. Braided line is NOS.

4703.jpg

Shown is the fogger installed into the air boot just upstream of the throttle body. Red is fuel, blue is NOS. I had previously installed the Twin Air Power Flow air filter kit on the bike which made the install abit easier.

4704.jpg

Another pic of the solenoids with the fuel and NOS lines plumbed in.

4705.jpg

Looking down into the intake with the air filter removed you can see the fogger tip from the inside.

4706.jpg

NOS bottle mounted and braided line ran to bottle from solenoid.

I still need to install a custom throttle that has a micro switch welded into the mount which is set to actuate when I hit 3/4 throttle. I am powering the solenoids with a rechargeable R/C car battery mounted with Velcro, behind the front # plate. Once I get these next steps finished I will post more pics

Pretty sweet. I have always wanted to build something like that. Are you going to install a shield over the bottle? Looks a little vulnerable to me.

Thanks! As far as a shield goes no. Bottles under the rear fender like that are pretty safe. With the bike being extended longer it is safe from the tire... if it is muddy at all it will get mud flung on it but that washes off at the end of the day

That's gnarley! I'd like to see hp rating on that! Always wondered if anyone has put a turbo on a dirt bike! :D

To the OP.. What kind of shot of NOS? Like a 50 hp hit or smaller?

With the GYTR Head and 20cc over bore Im guessing/hoping that the motor itself is in the upper 50's as far as HP goes. I am up in the air as to what size shot to run. My options are 20hp, 30hp, and 40 hp. Im leaning more towords the 20hp shot at the moment. Close to 80hp out of a YZ450F!! Im still waiting on the throttle switch to finish the install, when Im done I will post an update and maybe a video :ride:

Really?  I would assume it would make more than that.  MXA got over 55hp on it, stock.

A small overbore to 470cc and the GYTR head added at most.. 4-5hp. Without more extensive motor work; stroking, larger overbore, and and going to bigger valves... etc... 5hp is a huge gain! My guess on my 470's hp is based on a friend of mine who has a similarly modified 13' that dynoed at 58hp. My 470 runs identical to his. I also have a 15' YZ450F that MXA dynoed at 60+ hp and after riding both bikes back to back, the 15' 450 is a tad stronger in the upper RPM's, the 470 feels quiker/stronger right off the bottom.

You're right, 5hp is a huge gain on a bike. I'm actually surprised that my '14 doesn't feel stronger to me.  I had an '11 with a Yosh exhaust, and it was probably 55-56.  The '14 is closer to 60 with exhaust (which mine has), but it doesn't feel faster to me.  It could be because I've read that lots of the aftermarket exhaust systems (mine has the Dr D Ti pipe with the carbon slip on) take some of the bite out down low and move it up.  I've read that some folks are putting the stock system back on.

It could also be that I rode a KX500 in between (still have it) with a Tom Morgan modded rebuild (head, cylinder and power valve mods) which make probably 10 ft/lbs or torque more than my '14.  That is a ton.  That might be why it doesn't feel quite as fast as it is.    It's certainly not that I need more power.

I certainly don't need the power either! :smirk: On the outside chance I actually make a good run every now and then I can use all the power I can get tho haha! I have a full FMF exhaust on my 15' and I fell like it was a big improvement. I used MXA's setting for fuel and timing. To me the FMF didn't make a tone more power, but it moved the power off the bottom and gave it more mid to high rpm pull.

Yeah, on a hill climb bike you can use it all!  On an MX track, the bike isn't the bottleneck, I am.  lol

A quick update; No more pics yet sorry. This setup is incredible!! I went with the 30hp jets and WOW :jawdrop: !! When I hit full throttle it is very literally like hitting a switch. Instant acceleration and power. I have an event next weekend, May 1st and 2nd so, hopefully I will have some video of the bike in action then. I cant say enough about how well this works... WOW!

Due to a bad connection I was unable to get the NOS to work correctly at the climb in May :banghead:  I tracked down the connection and actually completely rewired the whole system and it works great now!! In the video below I am pulling 3rd gear with a dominator paddle tire!! :jawdrop:  So much fun! I made some even faster/smoother runs, but ran out of camera battery. Lemme know what ya think?!

How long does the bottle last? I need for snowbikin

Not sure exactly how long a 2lb bottle will last. While practicing (2 practice sessions), refilling the bottle between sessions. I have made 8-10, 500-600ft runs and didn't run out. The bottle has been pretty close to empty though when I get it refilled. Hope that helps. I did change the jets to 20hp out of curiosity and I cant tell much difference in 20hp and 30hp.

You willing to give the 50hp a shot?

So maybe 8-10min of 30hp boost? That would work for me :) How much was the whole ordeal?
