2007 exhaust header shape

I ordered a header for a basket case bike I'm rebuilding and was wondering if the narrowing in the picture is normal for an OEM 07 yz450 head pipe. There are no dents or tooling marks on this header anywhere. Just want to be sure

This is the stocker off my '08...there is no narrowing.

Maybe someone with an 06 or 07 will chime in. I believe the 08 and 09 are different headers from the 06 and 07

Each of the '06, '07, and '08-'09 headers are different.  They are all pretty much the same "shape", the bends being in the same place and all, but each is different.  All of the OEM headers have heat shield mounts, BTW.

 

The '06 is a basically straight 1 5/8" titanium tube from one end to the other.  The '07 is a stepped, anti-reversion design that starts out a little smaller than that, but ends up a little bigger.  The '08 is as big as the '07 outlet all the way out, being made oversized to compensate for the stuffy muffler it came with.

 

The distorted cross section in the picture might be the result of the header being bent to fit the bike from an earlier steel framed model, too.

I did not think of that gray. Obviously it indeed is supposed to be round. I'll search me out another pipe. Thanks!

i have my stock 07 pipe it may have some dings from riding. if youre interested shoot me a PM and ill take some pics. i believe i actually have the complete exhaust (muffler needs to be repacked... punks sold me 2 stroke packing and told me it was ok....) let me know.
