Hi guys, this is my first post.

I have a problem with my 04 wr450.

The clutch seems to have a problem, when i squeeze the clutch(to pull away)and when i put the bike in gear it hunches forward a little, it's not smooth.

And you can hear like a slam sound when i put it gear.

if i leave it like this will it damage the gears?

And if i can't fix this(it doesn't bother me)will this damage the gears?-help will be much appreciated!

thank you

Common problem

Time to refurbish the clutch basket and plates

Lots of posts on the subject

I would certainly have a closer look at clutch assy.as already stated ,clutch basket fingers could be notchy, due to the time that has passed since bike was new.you can carefully ,file down fingers to make action smoother, but downside is the excess clearance will make clutch rattle a bit more than it already would.just remove centre clutch cover ,undo springs in a diagonal manner, remove pressure plate, clutch plates, and examine clutch basket.

Yesterday I bought the bike rode clutch was slipping bad in all gears then started working ok. The problem i have is the bike feels like the chain is skipping in 4th gear. The rear sprocket is very wore out the chain is very loose axle blocks are already adjusted all the way out. Please help i don't want to replace the clutch, chain and sprockets just to have to tear it apart to repair the transmission id rather do it all at once if that is what it needs.

You are posting in the wrong forum. This is the WR forum.

It sounds like you made a poor purchase choice, unless you got it for $500

You can't avoid replacing the chain and sprockets, and you can't avoid repairing whatever is broken.

You have the bike in front of you, we don't, so how can we tell you all that it needs because 'you'd rather do it all at once'.

Take the time, do the work.
