No it doesn't. The GYTR ECU comes with an all zeroes map, it is most certainly not the FMF map which adds both fuel and ignition. In fact, the stock map is terrible with an uncorked intake and FMF exhaust. I know cuz I've tried it. The all zeroes map pretty much sucks in general. Vlxjim's map is good compromise and great starting point, IMO.

It does come with a different map than the stock ECU, but yes, probably not for the 4.1 pipe. I miss read the old site description.

The fact that it is all zeros is irrellevant.

Yes the stock ECU map is different and very lean. The base map in the GYTR ECU is all zeroes, meaning no added or subtracted fuel or ignition. Nobody runs this map as it sucks. Well wIth one notable exception.

I'd be curious as to what the values actually are for the stock ECU, but I've yet to see them anywhere.

I run whatever the GYTR ecu came with map wise. It seems to work ok. My local dealer will swap maps for free but it works as is.Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing.

Did you install this ecu or did the dealer? If the dealer did perhaps they put in what map they thought was best for the way your bike is set up....

I have a new 14 with the comp ecu. I still have it set up with all zeros. It is broken in now. I can't wait till the next time out. I will be playing with a bunch of maps.... Anybody have links to a good list including the one listed above?

Here yea go. Smooth trackable power. It works for a lot of the guys here give it a try. If you bump up the CO to 10-15 it works even better.

Ha. Thanks. Don't worry I don't take much personally. I do however feel bad for the newbies that are just looking for answer to something and get ripped a new one out of the blue just because some internet bully needs to feel good about themselves.

Ok, here's the scoop.  I put only the GYTR stock "performance" muffler insert and the race ECU on my bike.  I rode it tonight and have already ridden it about an hour or so before I put these parts on the bike.  I have many years of experience both on and off road and have quite a few bikes and put thousands of miles on them every year.  I'm not a crazy billy goat mountain climber on my bike like some of you but I'm no Lilly livered desk jockey, weekend warrior either.  I wear bikes out!  In short, what I'm saying is, I've got some experience and understanding when it comes to bikes and mods. on bikes. SO; here you go.................

The bike starts much easier, both cold and hot.  The bike is more sensitive to throttle input.  That is, I clearly noticed that any modulation of the throttle either catapulted the bike forward or severely slowed the bike and caused me to have to compensate for the sudden slowing.  It's not as bad as my RMZ was but it could catch you off guard if you just simply made the changes and went out and flogged it.  The low end torque is greatly improved.  It will much more easily loft the front in first and second.  I only rode it around my five acres and didn't get to, nor did I really want to, get on it.  It was dark and I only had my helmet and gloves on.  Any way, whatever the race ECU does, it is not a bad thing.  AND IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

Take that for what it's worth, you didn't pay much I might add, and make your own decision.  I'm sure I'll put some kind of map on the ECU because that's why I bought it.  Duh!  But I will have to play with it and decide what I want.  More low end, or more top end.  A BIG rush in the mid range?  Who knows.  But at least I now know I can tailor the power to whatever I want.  This bike is going to be fun!

I agree that changing all that you changed that it will and did make a noticeable difference. The real question is will the stock ecu vs the comp ecu make any difference alone..

I will be going to the desert for a few days after christmas. I will do a few tests and report back

I'm going to give this one a try first.  The description sounds like what I want from this bike.  I don't know if my bike shop is open today, I doubt it.  Hopefully they'll be open Friday.  If so I'll get them to flash this one to my ECU.

Ok, here is your map vlxjim

Fuel----- Timing

3 4 4---- 0 0 0

3 5 3---- -2 -1 0

3 4 3---- -2 -2 0

and here is what mine ended up being;

FI------- +- G (gas?)

+3 +4 +3---- 0 +2 0

+3 +5 +3---- 0 +2 0

+3 +4 +4 ----0 0 0

The guy at the shop said your map didn't make sense to him. He said something about it being upside down? Not sure what he meant by that. I don't have a clue so I let him have at it. Did we get anywhere close to where your map is set? Either way, it seems to run just fine, not quite as punchy on the bottom but still a decent rush thrugh the mid and top.

Thats because the guy at your dealer is a dumb ass. There is nothing upside down about it. Where did he come up with that map? The fuel is close to mine but his timing makes no sense.  This map is proven and use by a lot a guys on here that love it. Their bikes run cooler and have smoother power. But what do I know. I only use to build and tune some of the fastest race bike in the country. And was one of the ones that worked out the CO adjustments for the new FI bikes. But if your happy with it have fun with it. I would have him add 2 or 3 in the top right hand timing corner and knock -1 off the lower left corner if your going to run like that. He's tuning it like its a YZ450. Just so you know the -2's and -1 in the timing make the bike smooth at the hit were you need it smooth. And help it run cooler in the heat. This map was not just a guest it was dialed in. It has been out there from 2012 till still now. I'm not saying that your map is bad. But I don't get it and its not close to any other map that I've seen in timing. In the fuel he took my numbers and change two numbers by +1. Funny that the other maps that are published are not as close in the fuel as your guy did. If I was you, I would buy my own programer so that you could try other maps and see. The bike should of come with the programer as they do in other countries. Dam EPA!

Good Luck.

Yeah, I agree with you, I'm probably going to get my own programmer. My guess he's used to simply putting in one of the Yamaha suggested maps and he just wasn't ready to try and read someone else's map or whatever. I'll try and educate myself on how these are read and how to input and such in advance. Maybe I can find someone in my area with a programmer to get me straightened out until I get my own.

Does the GTYR ecu come with map choices and instructions? or do the maps come with the $250 tuner or a site download from somewhere. Im just trying to get an idea how this would work if I dive in.

I noticed all the 2015 Yz bikes alread have GTYR stickers, so I guess the GTYR is standard issue on those. Im still waiting to see a 2015 WR450, and don't know what the hold up is but 2 shops in my area have none.

No, the GYTR ECU does not come with maps, you have to either buy the tuner or borrow someone else's tuner to make fuel and ignition changes. If I'm not mistaken, the tuner comes with a few maps but I'm also willing to guess there's a reasonable amount of user developed data out there in cyber land just waiting to be snatched up by the intrepid GYTR tuner if so desired.

GYTR is simply an acronym for Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing. Anything Yamaha can be GYTR not just the ECU or tuner etc.. For instance, my bike has the GYTR muffler insert and the GYTR ECU. My guess is that the MX racing peeps must be, according to Yamaha sales information, more into having "race" stickers on their bikes. And let's face it, the MX bikes are probably more "full on" than these bikes so it kinda makes sense.

For the record, I just ordered my own tuner. I want full control over my mapping. I don't want to have to trust someone else's maps unless it comes from Yamaha.

The GTYR comp ecu does come with some example maps for both stock and FMF enhanced. Lots of people use good maps posted by the likes of vlxjim and others. Programming is pretty easy so experiments are not that difficult. Much easier than jetting at least for me. :banghead:
