PAINT ? ? ?

Recommended Posts

Got my bike down to the frame and going to get it powder coated. Thought I would just get some ideas from the great members of TT as to what everyone thinks about what color to paint it. What color and why that color? I was thinking of "Silver vein" silver with little black vein like marks all through it, looks pretty cool. THANX! for your input. ~Hitman~

I saw a yzf with a white frame and it looks very "clean".It breaks the blue a bit and looks quite "trick".I will try find a pick and post it for you. I had a old CR once with white frame, they look great when clean but look dirty real quickly.Depends how often you clean your bike!

Hit man, got to the thread "post pics of your 426" and check out the pics from spcmike and mxdude1986. or just search their user name.

I personally like the look of the silver frame and the way it blends with the rest of the bike. The silver vein would look good but I dont think it would blend as well. Just my opinion.

My 426 has a black frame with Hurricane graphics. I used to have a 1980 YZ125 so the yellow is more Yamaha style for me. I bought it that way. The main reason I got this one.

Make sure u remove all the grease off the frame with a good bath of simple green as for the holes the place i got my stuff done did all the prep.

OK, good call on the simple green! yeah the place i called said that they have a special kind of tape that they use when it goes in the oven. I just dont want them to get sand and pint in the oil hole or in the threads. There haspanic and they really dont understand good english, HAHA but they are a reaonable price, $190.00 to PC the frame and swingarm smi gloss black. witch i think is a pretty good deal. They PC a wakeboard tower of mine and they kinda messed up on some of the pieces, so i dont know? well c.

Be sure to have them mask the VIN number otherwise the powdercoat will be so thick you wont be able to read it. If they clear coat the color, have them mask the color and then remove it. Then clear over the VIN number.......

Hey im going to be powder coating mine soon, how did you cover all the bolt hols and the oil filler etc. etc. Any preping info?!?! i would appreciate it. BTW your frame looks awesome!!!

Thanks i worked hard on it. The place i took it too took care of all the bolt holes and the frame. I definitely let them know about the frame oil tank though. As far as the bolt holes i ran a tap through them when i got it back just to be safe.
