Ooohhhh proud new owner right here! Just came off a 2012 yz450. I found myself doing more desert stuff, and after retrofitting the yz to the point where all I needed was a light, I decide to grab one of these bad boys.
I ordered the ecu comp and programmer to get the power out of the bike, as well as a fmf power core pipe.
I am looking for some racing theme graphics or a trim kit that will fit my bike. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am not too sure if older model yz's or wr graphics will work. The front fender is the same as the '12 yz450, but the rear fender is a little different.
Any other suggestions ?
I plan on taking out the air box snorkel.
Also, if I remove the coolant overflow tank, will that harm /effect anything on the bike? I figure it will just dump the coolant on the ground like the yz?
Thanks amigos!!

Dude, that's too funny! The RMZ I bought in '11 began the same transformation right before I got rid of it. Skid plate, IMS tank, one tooth down in front, bark busters etc.. Hell, I was building an Enduro and didn't even know it! Now I got this bike too! Lol!! So far it fits me just right. To be honest, I hated the top fuel dragster on or off power. It was just a beast to handle anywhere but on the track. I ended up doing more mountain riding than anything and got fed up and traded it in on a street bike. Now this bike. Love it! Many hours of fun await us both for sure!! I've ordered so much crap for this bike!!

Let's see if I can remember it all.  Moose Racing skid plate, Acerbis hand guards, Tusk neoprene fork boots, Roxx 1 3/4" bar risers, Wolfman front and rear fender Enduro packs and one of those braces you put between your front tire and the fender for when you tie the front down in your truck or whatever.  Oh, Devol Extreme radiator guards/supports/braces.

I like to run it up and down the rev. range a lot.  A lot of on the gas off the gas kinda thing.   I'm not toooo concerned with the 1/4 to 1/2 throttle thing but I don't rev. them right to the moon right away either.  After I've got about an hour on them and get on oil change in, it's no mercy after that.  If it's gonna break for some manufacturing flaw, it's gonna do it in the first couple of hours anyway.  I've got about a 1/2 hour or so on it right now.  It's been in the teens here so I'm not too excited about riding it quite yet.  This weekend it is supposed to be in the upper 30s so I'm thinking a day at the dunes will pretty much get it done.  Besides, I like working on them about as much as I do riding them anyway.  Lol!!

I also have a http://www.dirt-bike-gear.com/ large fender bag waiting to mount, for a spare 21" inner tube and tire tools (I wont carry them on my back, too much on it already),

...and a RAM mount GPS mount for my garmin.

Stuff adds up pretty quick, huh?

Thanks man!
I have the pipe, comp ecu, and hand guards . How was the install on the steering damp? Pretty self explanatory? And I assume it will work with the stock bars and to triple clamp?

Are you a pro racer or something?  You sure are putting a LOT of stuff on your bike.  I'm kinda jealous.

Yes, it fits to stock bar and clamp. Yes, it's drop-in simple install. An hour if you wrench.

Nope, not a racer. A Newbie, prone to dropping the cycle, (explains all the crash pro, steering damper), riding desert (explains the long range tank), jumping trail to trail via OHV trails (explains the Baja kit), and concerned about throttle "hit" off-idle (explains G2 Ergo).

The rest of it is power control: For overheating control, "red header" control, CO control, fuel consumption control, and of course... More Power.

The list is pretty carefully thought through, for my needs. I am currently lacking flat repair, and on-board guidance. But, I have the parts to solve that now.

That list does not include tools, tool carriers, and helmet / clothing / accessories.

Including that stuff, I'm easily $4K into this sport above the cost of cycle purchase and maintenance.

And I thought I was over the top with an extra $600 into it.  Lol!!  I've got a lot of bikes so I have to really plan my mods. accordingly.  If I put too much into one bike the others get jealous and that's bad!  Lol!!

Just curious, why didn't you like the Acerbis hand guards?  My next purchase will be the 3 gal. tank.

They bent too easily, and because of the way they're designed, they dont offer good protection. IMO... :)

Hey I did the comp ecu thing tonight, and changed the throttle screw. I ended up removing the header, it made it way easier, and actually was really simple. Let me know if you need help if you haven't done it. I'll be home later tomorrow after I break this thing in. Oh and I am just doing a Gorman trip. If your interested. Here is a pick of the tools I used!

Well, I gotta go back to the bike shop tomorrow and return the Roxx bar risers I bought 'cuz they won't work soooo, since I just happen to have $200 burning a hole in my pocket, I think I'll go ahead and order the race ECU and muffler insert while I'm there, mebee even a set of fork bleeders as well.  Man, I gotta tell ya, I had a Helluva time getting my Moose Racing skid plate on tonight!!  Funny how something that should be so easy can kick your butt.  Lol!!!  Gonna go wring it out tomorrow on some local trails.  Really looking forward to it.

Wristrockit--I've got dunes out my back door.  Which ones are these?  I'm smack in the middle of the state if you know what I mean.  West of Quincy?  I've always wanted to ride that area.
