Must places to visit in Cal

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I'm taking trip there on early January to ride motocross on first 10 days  ( 5 track days I guess). Then spend few days in LA and after that drive to Las Vegas to spend coins I still have left..

Could you give tips where is MUST spots to :

-Ride

-See

-Shop (mx stuff + other)

-Do

-Eat

I'm quite new rider with self defence sense, so craziest tracks and spots is not for me. Our location to stay is Perris.

Btw. I rented Convertible Mustang for Las Vegas trip, is it too cold to drive top down?

Cheers,

Keijo

1.   Glen Helen - big natural terrain track. No huge jumps but it gets rough. They hold an AMA national there.

2. Milestone MX -  Multiple tracks of varying difficulty.  Pretty good grooming. Overall a nice facility.

3. Perris MX - I'm not sure what the proper name of it is, but it's a fun track with good prep.

4. Cahuilla Creek -  It may be cold in January but it's epic when the conditions are right.

5. Comp Edge -      "    "      "     "          "                      "        "               "                        "

6. LACR - They just brought it back.  Big sand track. Fast, fun, elevation changes.

7. Piru MX - Kind of a long roll from Perris.  Excellent prep, a lot of elevation changes, fun jumps.

There are more tracks in socal, but these came to mind.  1 - 5 are fairly close to Perris.  6 and 7 are a haul but worth the trip.

Post up where you end up going.  There aren't alot of track riders on TT, more trail / offroaders.  Check out proride.com .  It's more directed toward track stuff and alot of the guys there live in that area...

As for the convertible, you are 50/50 about the weather in January.  You may get a warm day...  but coming from Finland, all of our days may seem warm... Have fun.

Thanks for the tips, especially Chicken & Waffles, mummmms....=D Haha, actually we just got our first few Burger King restaurants here and two Starbucks coffees. Don't know if it's good or bad thought...

I made a mistake, didn't mean track, I ment we are going to spend 5 out of then days on motocross track / dirt biking. I checked lap videos from  those places dirt addicts listed, looks super nice! Comparing to tracks in Finland  they are much more smooth and they are taking very good care of. Ground is often very wet, so it does tracks to go to ruts very easily.

Have to check if we are able to go to ride in desert, looks superfun, could be quite difficult for not-so-advanced rider?

Can't wait! 35 days left....
