So I've got a 98 yz400, I'm just about positive the rear shock is toast. Anyone know if just recharging it is possible? And how tough or expensive it might be? Or is replacement the better option?

A shop can recharge it to spec, but maybe the seals are blown and/or the linkage bearings are sloppy.

When you press on the seat does the rear suspension act like a Bic pen spring?

Yeah I guess it does, when I sit on it, it drops about 3 or 4 inches and feels like it hits a stop.
