Stolen WR450F (one of the worst days ever)

Recommended Posts

Do it.

I'm trying to get them to now.

Edit:

I'm also putting the same accessories on it except for the pipe. I'm getting a Q4 this time because I don't have to have blinkers on it for inspection in Texas.

Not sure about gearing or tires yet. I still have a Dunlop 606 rear and a Bridgestone turd for the front to get me by. Any input for dual sporting this thing?

nice, I will just say that you should get blinkers just for the added safety.

I may add some later if I can find an integrated tail light kit. I have has blinkers ripped off too many times. Don't want to be hassled by the police if I'm missing one after a ride.

Does anyone know if I can leave the throttle stop screw out and just put in some RTV?

I've heard some say it will cause something to hang but I thought only carbureted bikes would do that.

I have had the screw out and nothing filling the hole for just over 2 years and likely about 300-400 hours in mostly dusty conditions without any issues.  I actually have the short screw, just never got around to putting it in.

Edit:  now I'm having second thoughts; I may have dabbed some RTV into the hole.

Well I am just waiting on the check from Progressive for the pay off. Once it's all squared away I need to pick up the bike and throw the Tusk kit and some old DOT rated tires on it, bring it back to the dealership, and have it inspected. Then they will take the green sheet and registration to the tax office and I'm set.

They are also bumping the CO level up for me under warranty while I wait.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and words of encouragement. This is a BIG deal for myself and my family.

My wife is probably more ready for me to stop moping around and start riding again than I am!

What a twist. The deputy working my case just called me and said he got a confession from one of the thieves!

I can't share too many details but apparently the sheriffs office is busting up the local theft ring.

I am going to feel much more at ease once I get my new bike home!

We had no idea when we moved into Van Zandt County but it is #4 in the nation for most dangerous counties to live in! http://www.movoto.com/blog/top-ten/most-dangerous-counties/

I hope they get us off that damn list!

Is it the meth?

I thought Texas was a carry state.

Definitely meth.

They are worse than zombies.

And you still have to have a CHL but I have a few guns at home.

Hopefully you get your bike back and don't have to mess with a new one getting it just right. Invest in a logging chain.

I wish it were the case but unfortunately the insurance company already cut a check and will receive the title. It's no longer mine even if it is recovered.

I asked the agent what would happen to it if its found. She told me it would be sold at auction and I won't have the option to buy it or any parts off of it :(

I was supposed to pick the new bike up this week but people have been dropping the ball so I just have to wait.

I have officially missed the best riding weather so far this year :(

Closure at last.

I got a call this morning from a deputy working my case. He found my bike and its waiting for the insurance company to come pick it up.

It appears some redneck took the hand guards off, put a crank case vent on the handlebars, and used it for mudding or deep water shit.

I'm glad it worked out the way it did and I ended up getting a new one. The old bike was probably flogged hard for the past few months (by morons).

The only complaints is that I'm out a $500 deductible and I couldn't afford to get the Yoshimura again. The Q4 is going to burn my license plate up ?

When the insurance paid out for the old bike they also paid for the accessories. They then became theirs. I called and asked if I can put the stock can back on it and take the Yosh.

They said nope. It's theirs now.

I could have not told them it was recovered and swapped it because I know the owner of the towing company it's sitting at now, but I'll do the honest thing and just save for one.

I don't want to be a thief myself ?

I'd like to know where all the bikes go. Less than 10% of all dirt bikes stolen get recovered and that means in various countries there are thousands of stolen bikes sitting somewhere. Sold for farm work; used as midnight toys; parted out... sure some of those things but that surely can't be all of them?  I've talked to a lot of cops about it but I don't think they really know the extent of the volume of thefts. A KTM85SX... "That's be some sort of mini bike or toy wouldn't it?" and half the time their databases don't talk to each other so something stolen in state X, can show up in state Y and you there's no record of it's theft in state Y.

If you know please tell me so I can get some sleep. :excuseme:
