Pourcel 2015

I feel bad for CP, I've met him and talked to him and his brother a lot over the years especially when they rode for GPKR and again in 2012 when he raced mx1, as I worked at UFO for a short time. He's such a hard guy to comprehend, his English is still terrible.. It's so hard for him to say what he means. He hated the Valli bike, but he praised the team every time he was on the podium! The chassis is just so wrong for him. Until you've seen the guy on race day you don't understand how odd he is, his riding is a mirror of his personality...bizarre and strikingly awesome. He's a very nice guy and he loves his fans! As for his riding he indeed suffered after his crash at the Irish GP at moneyglass in 2007, he spent like 11 months in a wheelchair. His fitness isn't as much the problem, in 2014 he would lead 6 or 7 laps around 10 minutes sometimes then just get frustrated and go into his ride around in 3rd gear mode we've all seen before. The Yamaha is totally wrong for him, if he rides a kawi, suzuki, Honda, maybe even KTM he will be very good. Ever since his 2007 crash the guy is terrified of injury, that's why he only goes fast on the last 2 minutes of practice, because his spinal cord injury was a result of a downed rider during practice when a flagger didn't wave...chris came down a down hill jump, hit the bike and destroyed his t-6, t-4 and sacrum (lowermost bone of the spine). Who knows if we'll see him back, he's got some personal demons to work on first, but he is still good enough to win championships..that is for certain!

Hi Pourcel's Mommy !  Welcome to Thumpertalk.  How's you son doing?  Has he gotten any ride offers yet?

I've just been good friends with the guy when he rode for GPKR. I know BUD wanted him to race MX1, but who knows what he'll do now, I think he wants to ride. As strange as he is, he is still a motocross racer and enjoys riding a dirt bike! But I don't have any inside info, he hasn't owned a cell phone in years lol
