Tire size

I have a 2004 drz400e

I just bought this bike and it currently has a non dot tire on the rear. I am looking at putting a set of 50/50 tires on. I was leaning toward the kenda k270s but I need recommendations on sizes. Currently the front tire is a 90/90 21 and the rear is a 110/100 18. Should I try and go back with these same sizes or adjust to maybe a wider rear tire. Any help would be appreciated.

90/90-21 is good on the front.

 

120/90 or 120/80 - 18 will be good on the rear.  I'm pretty happy with Shinko tires

Get the 120 rear, 110 is pretty narrow! Love k270's or Shinko 244's exactly the same tread pattern. Excellent tires

Anyone know if shinko 705s 150/70r17 front an rear will work. I found a guy selling them used for a good price. Any input will be greatly appreciated. I have a 05 drz400sm

I looked at the Kenda 270s, They come in sae sizes, I think the 3.50x18 is close to the stock 120/100/18. They have two sizes for the front 3.00x21 or 3.25x21 does any one know which is close to the stock 80/100/21?

I am running kenda 270's front 3.00 x 21 and rear 4.50 x 18. Good tires will be purchasing more when I replace them

3:50 rear is pretty small.  You want at least a 4:10 with oddly is between an 3:50 and 4:00.  So 4:10, 4:00, 4:60. 4:50 - 18 rear.  Front 3:00 or 3:25 - 21 will work.  3:00 is close to original 80/100-21.

I just put on the K270's on mine, in the 325-21 and 450-18. I mainly wanted rim protection but was happy with the way the bike handles on the road and trails. The skinnier 300-21 and 400-18 may steer a little quicker and dig into soft dirt a little more, but the rear was a 4ply, were as the 450 goes to a 6ply. The 120/90-18 is about the same width as my 450, just a little lower profile if you want a little tighter road handling.
