On the 14 yz 450f has anyone removed the back fire Screen from intake?

sorry forgot to say when I did them it was with a slipon so idk it looks like it would let it breath better but the yz needs it to keep shit outside the engine.

The thing is that the screen resists air flow to a lesser extent than the filter does, so removing it accomplishes, once again, nothing.
