Put 1.2 Hrs on 14' yz450f and did an oil change. Which according to the manual it only takes 1 hr to break in.This is my first new bike I know that there was going to be some metallic in the oil from parts mating/ machine process ect but would like your thoughts on the subject. Thanks!

It might be the flash, but seems like a little much to me.

One thing it could be: if you are riding your clutch a little too hard, and getting shavings from that as well. You could use a magnet to see if all of those shavings are magnetic, if they are not. Check your clutch basket. Top cover too, when I got my 2010, before I got rid of the hit in the bottom, I was getting a lot of shavings as well. My basket was more or less fine, but my pressure plate was getting very visible grooves in the wells from the springs.

As soon as I got rid of the hit (and stopped clutching so much to compensate for it), that problem was gone, I still use the old pressure plate, but I'm not getting any more metal in the oil.

Anyways, that might not be your problem, but if you have doubts, that's something that's easy to check.

Each bike varies. Looks pretty normal to me, throw some fresh oil and a filter in there and see how things look at 5 hours run time.
