What to look for when buying wr450

Recommended Posts

Gday all,

So im pretty set on getting myself a wr450, it will be alloy frame and carby so roughly 07/08/09 model but wanted a few ideas on what to look at before I actually buy it! So things like cracked frames or rough engines etc. I read 07 models can have a hole in the bolt in the airbox for sand to get in to the carb, so stuff like that ill be looking for.. So any ideas on what to check would be good! Also how many ks is too many ks? Like is 6000ks too many? Things like that.. Cheers

Y not a yz more power

Because a YZ is terrible on trails. More power is not the only factor you consider when you buy a bike.

Just look for general wear on the bike. It will be apparent if it has been rode hard and not taken care of. Look at the air filter for sure. If it is really dirty, I wouldn't buy it. I don't know how many miles a km is, but engine hours are a more important factor than mileage. I wouldn't buy one with more than 150 hours. Not saying they wouldn't be reliable, just saying I wouldn't buy one.
