Stark's batteries are mounted on the housing, conducting heat directly to the the housing, which has fins on it's external surface...

Yeah, I saw that, and I've seen the pictures of the Alta battery.  Better design for cooling, but still only a small area of the cell conducting heat to the case, and still air cooled.

Notice that they don't have any videos of a Pro doing a 30 minute Moto on a hot day?  If their battery design has solved the heat problem, I'd think they'd be chomping at the bit to demonstrate it.

It's December

Once the Varge is out in the hands of the press and actual customers we will all be able to see what its capable of. For the moment, if Josh Hill and Seb are saying its for real and has better performance then the Alta's did, then that's enough for me to be excited about it for now.

But we will see, will be fun to see how it actually performs. I'm expecting another step up in performance in all areas. That's a good thing.

Meanwhile we'll have months and months of people draggin on the Varge and sh*t talking it, mostly from people who have never ridden an e-dirt bike like an Alta, literately don't know what they're talking about. Yet running their mouths for all they are worth, Lol.

Probably can't buy one for months, anyway.

The earliest delivery dates I've heard people mention are September 2022, mine is December 2022. Wouldn't be surprised if the dates get pushed out 6 mths.

Tortelli said on the mxpulp podcast they are building pre-production units now (vs the earlier prototypes), so hopefully they can stay on schedule for customer deliveries for Sept (or maybe even earlier, is that even a thing anymore?).

Tortelli said on the mxpulp podcast, they are planning to race in the some of the French and Italian national championships.

I don't see how their air cooled battery is going to have any significantly improved heat dissipation vs the Alta's.  Why haven't I ever seen you talking about drawbacks to e-bikes?  You know, like thermal limiting problems?

You didn't watch the video ,the batteries connect directly to the case ,unlike other systems

Watch it then you will see the difference

Of course e bikes have issues ,KTM ice  have recalls every year lol

Its just an engineering problem to be fixed ,ice or ev

Your mixing up stuff mate

I showed you many reasons your assumption were off ,you reply a Alta plays up sometimes ....

The reality of E power.

I don't hate E power any more than fourstrokes. The batteries DO shyte themselves and they ARE expensive.

Lithium and lead acid last what, 2 year?

Lithium last a long time, phones last about 2-5yrs depending how they are charged(full cycles degrade them faster and typically after 500-1000 full 0-100% charges will still have 70% original capacity). On a bike that you recharge 2x a week(weekend ride where you recharge once as reasonable baseline) then that setup should last 10yrs as long as time degrading doesnt become a factor but if you keep it above 20-30% before recharging and dont always leave it sitting fully charged that could bring it up to over 2-3000 cycles then the battery will suffer more from age degradation more than cycle degredation. Now that said you could literally ride a few days a week at home track if you have it and still get 10yrs of life and ALOT more riding than on a gas bike. I think a $5-7k battery for 10yrs of no engine maintenance sounds well worth it to me.

Lead acid is horrible and no comparison in these applications as they dont like being cycled, they need to stay topped up to last and even deep cycle ones only get at best 500 cycles when only used to 50% of their cycle capacity
