Hey all, I have a 2009 yz450f. I was trying to take my shift lever off. I took the bolt out and it still wont come off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if I posted this in the right section of not.

It'll come off, just keep trying.  If need be and space allows wedge a screwdriver in the slot just slightly to spread out the splines enough to get them to release a bit.

Cowboyona426 I tried the screwdriver also. I will try again when I get moves on the shaft but it won't come off the end.

Tried again and I didn't do any better than last try.

I've never had one fight that bad.  Try some penetrating oil between the shifter and the shaft?  And just to be 100% sure, did you take the bolt completely out?

Yeah I did take the bolt completely out. It almost acts as if the end has expanded. I will try some penetrating oil.

WD-40 didn't help much either. It moves on the shaft easily until I go to take it off the end.

That'll make short work of it.

Sounds like the shaft end may have gotten mushroomed . After you get it off file a chamfer around the shaft.

That was my guess to why it wouldn't come off dirtyman.
