2013 review

Recommended Posts

So I have about 15 hrs on my bike and thought I would give my opinion. First off what I have done is fmf slip on, comp ecu, dunlop mx 31 for front and have set my co to ten. My map is all +3 on the fuel side and all +1 on ignition side. This bike is awesome!! I ride in michigan (sand whoops and twisty) and put the bike in third gear and can pretty much leave without using clutch. No matter how low the rpm drops in third I can roll the throttle and it just pulls your arms off. Whoops full throttle in third or fourth and tracks straight. I have had kdx 250, cr250, ktm300 xr 400 and this bike is far better than all of them. I would recommend trying the above map, is seems fuel delivery is about perfect. If your having trouble starting your bike after you fall or stall I recommend this. Hold full throttle and turn over for 2 or 3 seconds and then let off throttle then hit starter again. Mine fires every time.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a leftover 2012 WR450F.  But I am hesitating because I am afraid it will be to much weight and power for the super super tight technical stuff.  I currently ride a XR400R which I manage just fine in those conditions.  How will the WR450F compare?  I think they are about the same weight.

Power can be tamed with the tuner.  The bike is a little heavy but it hasn't been annoying for me.  The suspension does a good job and it turns really good without being twitchy.  If all you ride is super tight trails, it will overheat if you don't change the mapping and ditch the oem exhaust.  I've done this and changed the CO level to 3% and it had never boiled.

The Wr won't be much of an improvement over the Xr in just the tight stuff. The benefit of having the Wr would be once the pace is picked up.

Navaho6, which map should I run to avoid overheating.  I was thinking to run the woods map.
