The Slick Rock is calling to us! MOAB in March...

Recommended Posts

...I've been out there at the end of April for the last 6 years have experienced tons of rain...

The saying, "April showers bring May flowers" comes to mind.. Maybe they say April because it rains more in April vs. March? :D

You really need to ride the San Rafael Swell for a day. It is a little higher in elevation so that could pose more problems.

Yes, we do! We used to desert race down there years ago and we'd look forward to riding it again. ?

Sorry I cant move my week. :D My brother has a difficult time with scheduling these things. I may try to come out earlier and ride for a day or 2. David Dialogue would be fun to watch in person. He has some good clips on his web site. Dave you need to update the clips and add some new adventures. :D Thanks for the invite. :D

www.discovermoab.com has weather history and it shows that Moab average highs are 61 degrees in March and 72 degrees in April.

The average rainfall for those months is also low:

0.79" for March and 0.76" in April. Weather should be good for all! Snow melts will make some creek runs interesting. ? Has anyone done Kane creek in the spring. Some of those crossings look like we may need snorkels attached to our air boxes. :D

Things are great right now in Moab. Mt. Peale has about 6 feet of snow so if you have a snowmobile go for it. It has been 85 for the last few days so it is getting pretty warm. I think it is suppost to cool down a bit this week and it rained for about 30 seconds today. The riding has been great the last few weeks and the crowds should be a lot less, so this should be an excellant weekend to ride. There are a bunch of the local riders going out to ride white wash on Saturday so if anyone wants to come out there it should be some good riding. Anyway hopefully we will see some of you on the trails.

Dave,

I would LOVE to go back!!

I shipped my bike out there (www.forwardair.com) in Fall of 2000. There I met the ORIGINAL Thumpertalk owner Brian H. and his buds Kerry T., Denver Doug, Scott "Jake" J. This was the absolute first Thumpertalk union of riders. I would suppose our member count was a few hundred...???

Moab was like riding on the Moon :D. I LOVED that place. You guys need to count your Lucky Stars!! ?

I could show you some nasty & greasy rocks/roots & < handlebar width single track trails and NO TRESPASSING signs here in NH!
