Malcom Smith Trail on the WR

This is the beginning of the 'hard' parts. Got much much worse...

Okay I got half way through watching and ran out out energy. Had to take a shot of 5hr energy drink. Looks like a good one. The video doesn't show it but is it very steep.

The dirt is 6" thick silt filled with rock shards, and yes it's steep enough to require a full press to stay on the bike.

 

That video was where my cam battery was almost dead. Was not able to get the really tough shit on film.  

It gets BRUTAL after that, with less then 1mph crawls through boulder fields covered in silt. 

 

My motor was soooo noisy after that ride; I over heated my oil so badly it turned into water.....and I might have done some damage. We will see.

 

MY CLUTCH IS TOAST....maybe I should have changed from 14/48 before the ride?  Ya think??

I don't enjoy those  type rides as much as I used to. My old Bul 350 Alpina would have made that more fun than that WR. A one or two  tooth smaller ctr shaft sprocket in your fannie pack would have been smart. An old guy like you  should know that. :facepalm:

Well, gearing is personal preference, but for me, I run a 12/49.  I switched backed to a 13/49 and didn't like it,  Not for the type of riding I myself like to ride and more importantly, how I like to ride it.  But I think it is easier on the chain to have a bigger counter sprocket (just an assumption), so I am going to a 51 back sprocket,  Getting the Supersprox cause it comes in a cool blue :goofy:

Don't forget the screwdriver and hammer to bend the lock washer over.

 

The channel locks to bend the washer back over.

 

And the wrenches for the axle and chain adjustment.

 

I can just hear it...... 

 

"Beezer what the &%$# are you doing?"

 

"Changing my counter sprocket for better gearing."

 

"In the middle of a ride on the side of the trail?"

 

 "Are you on drugs or did all your concussions finally kick in?"

Well, the right radiator leaks, as does the hose to the right radiator, so, there's your trouble....right there.

Still might have a blown head gasket. I'll know tomorrow.

 

I'm surprised I did not smell anything as it leaked out...

I have a stock right radiator that is in perfect shape and all the hoses.
