Basics about how to use the Search Functions

Recommended Posts

This is a basic description to get you started.  Searching is one way of avoiding repeat posts and clutter on the main forum.  It is similar to the search feature used on other forums also.

The search engine/ button is on the upper right hand side of the page.  If you are on the CRF250L forum it's default is to search just "this forum",  If you click on where it says "this forum" it will give you the other choices.  Just click on a different one if you don't want to search using the default setting.

If you choose search this forum it won't search the FAQ forum.  Either search it separately or choose "all forums" for best results.

If you search a forum and find a good thread that's long, just use search again once you are in the thread.  Once you are in a thread the default is to search "this topic".  This should help pinpoint the information you are searching for without the need to read the entire thread.  This speeds up the searching process.

You can search by member, forums, products, events, classifieds, reviews, garages and more.

There also is an advanced search function available by clicking the tab to the right of the search box.  It will open a new window and allows you to make your search more specific.
