Very little shiftier feedback. 2003 yamaha yz450f

i own 2 bikes.  2013 kx450 and 2003 yamaha yz450f.  im used to riding the 2013 kx but i went to ride the 2003 and i couldn't tell which gear i was  in.  the bike rides great.  Is there a spring inside that puts pressure into the shifter for feedback   what would cause this?  easy fix or no?

Do you mean that the shift lever would not recenter itself when you shift up or down?
