Unabiker Rad Guards on a 2013 WR450F?

I've performed the search on this forum ("unabiker 450") , but I do not see anyone using these (recently, most posts are back in '08).

 

I also read alot of pages of "What did you do...", and I do not see these used on cycles in the pictures.

 

I look at the unabiker website, and they dont show any pictures, or post the installation instructions.

 

A general google search turns up similar, not much.  I dont get a good understanding of how they fit with respect to the air dams / side plastics.

 

 

So, is anyone using these Unabiker Radiator guards on a late model WR450?  Like'em?

 

I want to like them. I used them on two DRZ400's, and they were great at the level of protection they offer. But, I have a hunch that they dont fit/ clear the plastics well, if at all. But, I dont know that for sure.

I have the unibiker guards on my 09 WR450F. I think they are awesome.

But, my left radiator was tweeked a bit and it was a bitch install. I did get them installed and they fit perfect. No chance of a radiator being damaged by much of anything. Especially the bike being laid down.

I would call unibiker and ask if they fit.

AS swears by the Mohards and they look REAL beefy.  I have the Unibikers on my '07WR and the left one is currently a bit outta shape.

I have Unabikers on my 2012 WR450F.  They are tough as.  The GYTR ones bent on me after the first crash but since fitting the unabikers I have had no problems.  They were a bit of a pain to fit as the radiator shrouds need trimming but it was worth it.

Another +1 for Unabiker guards. Also note they're guards, not just braces like the GYTR ones. A brace only protects against falls or other side hits, it won't do anything to stop a stick etc from being jammed through your radiator. A guard like Unabiker does both.

I spoke with someone from Unabiker this week.  He told me they do make them for the '13, and that they ship with nylon extension bushings to fit the guards without trimming the plastics.

 

I'm waiting for a call back from Mohard Racing about their product.  The gal who took the call was not sure if the '12 series guards would fit the '13.

 

I've eliminated the Devol product.

 

One other I'm considering is flatlandracing.com

 

My buddy uses them, and they look beefy too, and their price is comparable (good).

 

Mohard and FlatLand both offer a very good rear brake disc protector, and I'm leaning to choose one of them first, over UnaBiker.

 

Really, tho, I believe all three of these choices are excellent. Too many choices!  Thats a good thing...

+1 for Unabiker, lost count how many times it has hit the ground on the side in rocks or against trees, assembly wasnt too hard as long as you follow directions or just look at the diagrams, I have had better luck lining the bolts up if I trim the think part of the shroud where the lower section turns to the top main part, its hard to describe but when you take the shroud off you'll see a thick part on the curve that pushes against the gaurds, they can be trimmed with a razor blade and no visual change from the side or for graphics

Another +1 for UnaBiker.  They went on without difficulty for me, as long as I was willing to push on the plastics to re-mount them, I did not have to cut them (tho cutting would have made them line up better for the re-mount).

I have the GYTR braces and they don't offer much protection.  They bend easy.

 

I know that Enduro Engineering is working on a guard that incorporates a coil relocation bracket.  I bought their guards for my '06. Very stout but quite heavy too!!  Boxed them up and sent 'em back. 

 

 

Checked out the Unabiker site.  Sounds like a good guard but there are no photos of the product !!  I'd like to see what I'm buying 1st.

I purchased the Unabiker guards in January and since the weather is hinting that winter may end I've just started the install. Issues are mainly sparse directions. Here is what the left side guard looks like partially installed, from front and side on 2012 WR

 

 

The rear frame-mount point is not lined up too well so that could be a fight. The upper front shroud mount directions are incomprehensible, so I'll call Unabiker on that issue

You're so close!  Just bolt up the shrouds using the supplied hardware, and you're done. Use the top and bottom open holes shown in these pictures, forget the middle one.
