Thanks and the first one I'm not sure what really happened it to but it failed right away, the only thing I could figure out was it hit the header and shorted it out. I hope to get the 2nd one in next week but right now I'm just using the battery and hooking up the battery tender when she's parked. I haven't found too many good reviews on any of our stators so if it makes it a year I'll be happy cause next year I'll be doing the WR conversion on the crank to get the 100 watt trail tech stator and 5th gear so I don't have to feel like I'm gonna blow her up to keep up with the sport bikes or even my buddies wr400 on the smooth haul roads. The graphics I have are the ebay knock off style so they were pretty cheap.

My bike has 5 gears, did the transmission change from 06 to 09? I don't have $1200 to swap my crank and everything, hopefully this one lasts.

The 06 was the first year for our style and still have 5 gears but the YZ 5th gear is .952 reduction and the wr is .840 reduction so you drop the rpms from like 500 rpms from 4th to 5th to like 1000rpms or 1500rpms so you can get higher speeds without messing with you sproket ratios. When I have my street tires on I'm running like a 15 and 45 so I lost a bit of my bottom end power just to keep the rpms low on the roads. I'd like to do a 13 or 14 front sproket with the 45 in the rear so get me a happy medium when I get sumo wheels.

The Crank is only needed if you wanna do the wr stator but the 5th gear is like $100 in parts plus labor if you have someone tear it down. I'm getting a few other things and if you buy everything new it's like 2K but most guys will try to buy stuff off ebay to cut 25-50% off in used parts.

I run 14/44 and can cruise pretty well with my SM setup, but swap to 14/49 for dirt so i'm not beating up my clutch too much.

I'm running the stock gearing cause I tried the 14/49 and it was a little too high for my liking for the dirt so I went back down. It does really well for everything but the long strait aways. My buddies wr400 ran away from me on a 4 mile stretch of old RR bed and he wasn't even revving it out.

She's getting closer! I got the Hinson steel clutch basket in, Rekluse Z pro installed, Zip Ty fuel screw, HD Stator in for round two since the 1st HD stator didn't last long, a Tusk rear brake switch and now the connections are in the air box, flasher wired in, the rear fender and air box back on. It should be ready to go next weekend since I just have some minor wiring to do now.

700rScott.  Looks really nice. Nothing better than having a true YZ450F with the power for dirt and the freedom to gear up or down depending on where you spend most of your time on or off road.  I started with:

And ended up with:

I'm pretty happy with mine.  Still have to put on the DOT knobbies and eventually convert to 18" rear wheel (have parts just not done yet)

Thanks and over the quad there's so much more freedom especially when you have a plate on it. I'd still like to upgrade to something like a Husky FE501s eventually but I think for the next few years I'll hold on to this. I'm hoping this stator holds out to charge the battery a little and I'll just put a Wr 5th gear in it next season to get more top end cause I still can't get over how my buddies Wr400 was so much faster on a old long RR bed. The 18" rear rim with a 140/80-18 S-12 tire are on the list to get next. The 130/70-19 S-12 tire is no where near the width 110/90-19 dunlop tire was but I think the tall lugs will make up for it a little since I'll be riding more in sand this year.

I've got a few more to dos checked off and tried firing her up but she didn't want to even try. The rekluse, Hinson basket and R6 head light switch are all done. I still have to wire in the 12 O'Clock tail light, fix a head light wire and figure out the no starting issue but I'm pretty certain putting in the oem stator will take care of that. I had high hopes of the electrex since it's made in europe but after the 2nd one frying and this one not working, I'm back to the oem stator and using the battery tender. I'm gonna try the pro cycle one a little later and hopefully that does the trick of getting some charging power when she's not plugged in. The Wr tank fits on fine but the WR shrouds don't fit on so well so I have to fight the bottom screw to go in.

She's almost ready to hit the trails and road. The 12 O'Clock Labs tail light is wired up, petcock isn't leaking anymore, the head light is rewired but I still need to put the oem stator back in, sag set and put the new chain slider on. I'm hoping to get her fired up this weekend.

I finally got the bike running this weekend and just took it around the block. I noticed between the S12 tire and the old dunlop, the S12 is much slicker on the pavement since I almost dumped it making a turn.

It's been a while since I've updated this. I had it up for sale but took it off since a few things came up and didn't want to be without a bike for a year, I'm gonna try to keep it and still get the Beta cause you can't have just one

She's all back together, I also changed out the foot pegs and put in a standard sparky instead of the quiet core for the area's I know I don't need to worry about for sound. I'll be picking up the Sumo wheels and tires tomorrow but I won't be able to try them out for a few weeks since I'll be riding every sunday for three weeks helping the SJER guys with the race October 12th weekend.

My wheels came in yesterday but I'm waiting on the bolts for the brake rotors so they should be in today. I'll be mounting them in a few weeks when I'm not riding dirt for a little bit and I hope the rear doesn't rub on the chain cause I ordered a Graves chain block but I need to take the swing arm off to drill and tap the bolts for that so it should be a winter project.
