Cdi for my 08yz450f ? Please explain

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I see all this talk on the CDI people are taking from the 06 yz450 and putting in the 08 and 09 what does this do for the bike I have an 08 is it worth doing the 06 CDI swap? I'm just curious on your ideas and how much it costs and is it hard to get to? Thank you

The '06 CDI will increase the bottom end power off idle, you will probably loose some hp up on top and the power will be less "tractable" with the '06 CDI in place because it has a more violent ignition curve.

Sort of.

There won't be much, if any drop off in the upper range, and while the low end "hit" is more aggressive, it's hardly "intractable".  Still very smoothly delivered and controllable, just more low end.

On the '08-'09 models, the stock exhaust is a major drag to low/mid range power, and needs to be replaced.
