YZF cranks

One Question .. will a YZF450 crank fit into a YZF400 ? ? ?

 

I know the 400 and 426 share the same stroke and the 450 has slightly longer stroke 

 

Anyone been down this path ??

No, it won't fit.  The left axle is significantly different to accommodate the electric starter drive, and the right side won't fit your primary drive gear.

Your thinking of a WR. But anyway no you can't use a yz450 crank in a yz400.

Whats wrong with your yz400 crank? You can have your yz400 crank rebuilt with a new bearing and rod for a very reasonable price.

Cheers guys . nothing wrong with my crank , the problem is my barrel ... age has caught up with it and its corroded through . I'm just sifting through some idea's as to where I go as I'm having a hard time finding another 400 barrel ,

I can get a complete 450 with broken con rod . casings are toast . There are plenty of 450 barrels on the market so matched with a 450 crank (longer stroke) and head may work . Ive rebuild these motors before and press my own cranks , just trying to find out whats compatible .

You're saying the YFZ is not electric start?  Last time I looked it was.   Maybe he meant YZ450F.

There's no such thing as a YZF450, so that leaves the reader to interpret it however he can.

Yes it would. And in the last ten years I've been here, dozens of people have asked about swapping all kinds of YFZ parts onto various different YZF models over and over, so find something else to bag on me about.

Grayracer513 , you taking the piss rite ?? everyone reverts to the" YZ" 4 stroke series as the YZF , well at least they do here in NZ

But he doesn't make mistakes.
