Throttle Stop

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 WR 450

I have looked for the throttle stop mod (the black plastic thing on the side of the carb and the top screw)

....I don't see it !.....I look at the mechanism and it seems like there is not stop screw fouling things up

I am going by a link for a 2007 WR.....did they switch to FI in o7 and my '06 has a carb?

I also don't see the AIS system at all....perhaps prev owner had already dumped it or it never had one

Can anyone shed any light on what mode SHOULD apply to my 06 WR450???

Can I ask a dumb question? After looking at the throttle stop mod, how does that make the throttle open WIDER? It looks like a glorified idle screw that would set the position of the slide in the bore = idle.....how does an adjustment screw like this affect the WOT position of the slide???.....Confused

I see a guy out on Craigs selling a bike identical to mine, an '06 WR 450

He advertises having done the throttle stop mod and having installed a 'Full throttle twist kit'

Any idea what that is?......Is he talking about an 1/8 turn throttle or something?

It is an 06 and it has an aluminum sub frame but a steel mainframe.....i'm 98% sure.

Pain in the boules getting to the carb

But I was able to pop off the little side cover and take a peek at the stop screw w/o removing the whole carb assy.

Damned if I can see how that stop screw effects WOT though......

I suppose the bottom line is the physical length of that screw, right?

I copied the article down....I think the length of the screw (from under the heat to the end) should be 0.790"

If i'm real lucky I can get in there again with a vernier caliper and measure its length

If I'm even luckier it will already be the correct length !!

Is there anything else I need to know or is it just a physical length of the screw issue?

Dude, just turn the throttle; if it feels like normal throw, you are done.
