15/45 or 14/48 gearing 07 wr450?

Recommended Posts

Currently running 13/50 but I want more speed since I ride the bike onroad to the offroad sections.

I do mainly fire roads and open stuff and occasionally technical sections.

Whats your opinion?

Thanks Gady

How high of a speed are you willing to have in first gear, before slipping the clutch?

13/51 = 7mph

14/51 = 11mph

15/45 = 18mph

(approximate)

Unless you weigh under 170lbs, the stock WR motor will not pull 15/45 on anything but flat ground..........

Thanks for the replies, I guess 14/48 would be the way to go.

Does any of you know what sort of gear ratio they run on a rally bike in the Dakar or Baja?

Totally depends on the bike.

All the factory bikes have completely different transmissions from stock, so the gear ratios do not compare to stock.

The DAKAR Yamaha had 15/45, but who knows what was inside...(dirt rider)
