WR450F 2013 Wont Run After A minute

Hi All Newbie Here

I Have a 2013 wr450f and have a problem with it

It will start run for a minute and then shut off.

when you try to start it the engine ligh flashs and it wont start (not a fault code)

When I plug my power tuner in no fault code is present.

I turn ignition off then on again and it will start and do the same.

Any One got any Idea's ?

That will cost you an arm and leg.

 

My guess is that its running out of fuel for some reason.   I'd spend money on tools before I'd spend money at the dealer.   I'd check fuel pressure to the injector.

Thought about that but didn't mention it because the bike is injected. This mostly affects gravity fed carbed bikes.

fuel cap venting is a good idea Have you done anything to the bike crashed it worked on it. Upgrades most of the time its something really easy.

90 days of warranty and I'm not sure if it would cover anything that isn't defective from the factory.   I doubt that my local dealers would fix it for free.

 

I'd also check the voltage at the fuel pump and see what happens to it after a few minutes.

Warranty is a little different in Australia. Again, new bike, dealer should sort it and be reimbursed by Yamaha Australia.

 

Now, as far as the problem, pretty sure it's an electrical issue as starting problem clears itself after the ignition switch has been cycled. Bike will still not run for more than a minute so tip sensor or fuel pump likely issue.

 

Even in the US a dealer should sort this issue as it's a new bike!

Have Tried the with the fuel cap removed still the same.

I don't think it is the fuel pressure as it runs awesome for the 30 seconds to a minute.

I am leaning toward the lean angle sensor

Have checked near all other sensors apart from that one.

Warranty is 1 month in Australia had it for 4

All I have done is remove the baffle from the exhaust and changed the mapping with my power tuner apart from that it is all pretty standard.

Whoa, warranty period has been decreased substantially since I lived there. Even so....call Yamaha Australia, I would be very surprised if the didn't take care of you. If they don't, get tough with them.

 

Also....you need to find a new dealer!

No had the baffle out for a fair while before

Is there any way to nridge out the lean angle sensor to rule it out

After some testing on the weekend found that the lean angle switch is faulty

I have 5v+ and Negative Feeding the switch and Also have 5v coming back

read owners manual it said the voltage should vary when leaning it.

So I guess I found the problem

Now I have to find a switch.

The lean angle sensor is under the tank. Are you sure you have not taken it off and put it back on upside down? as this would give the same problem...

Hi All I got it going today by bypassing the lean angle sensor !!!!

I didnt bypass pass it by the silicon methord as the switch was no good.

The way I bypassed it. I went to my local electronic shop and bought a 3v regulator. 

I used the 3v tap back to the computer to make it think the bike is upright (middle Pin)

I mainly did this to prove what was going on and it worked.

I Think the only reason they have the sensor is to stop the fuel pump if a hose busts when you fall off as none of the pre injected 450s have these (basicly same motor)

 

Just thought I would let you guys know what happened !!!!
