09 yz450 clutch issues

Recommended Posts

I just replaced the clutch on my 2009 yz450f due to it starting to slip in 5th gear when I got on the gas hard. Except now with a new basket, clutch boss, clutch plates and springs it still slips when I get on the gas still the same way it did. I have the free play adjusted like the owners manual says but idk what else to do. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!

Does it feel like its just slipping in 5th or does it feel like its popping out of gear. If its tough to go in, hold the gear or popping out of gear then it could be a shift fork. Based on your problem it doesn't seem shift fork related though.

What kind of oil are you using? I'm just wondering if its not wet clutch compatible

Well maybe where you live but out where I live yamalube is about all you get other then honda synthetic and like the crap oil at Walmart for cars. It's what's recommended for the bike and it works fine. I used to run amsoil but they stopped carrying it at the bike shop. I kinda live in the sticks in the middle of farm fields so availability isn't very high around here sadly.

Bent shift fork and rounded dog gears. Need a new. 3,4,5 gears and new shift fork. Also while I have it apart I'm just gonna do the top end I was gonna do this winter. All new top end except the cylinder head and new piston rings and wrist pin. Play hard ya pay hard
