I sold my old XR500 for a '99 YZ400. I love the power and weight! But, I am like the gearing of the XR. I have never done MX and don't plan to. I like desert ridding...FAST, desert ridding. I'm not hitting the top speeds that I am used to. First gear is tall, maybe a little too tall, with the stock sprockets, so I don't just want to drop teeth on the rear sprocket. Is there any way to change the gearing in the gearbox and make 4th and 5th taller?

Perhaps you should have bought a WR400. But now that you have the YZ, you could buy the complete WR trans, or perhaps build a combo with WR 1,4,5, and YZ 2,3.
