Guys,

I've been looking for an aftermarket stator for my 2001 YZF 426 that could provide me with enough DC current to power-up street-legal kits out there (50W should do). Browsing through the forum and elsewhere I found references to Trailtech (100W), Moose (50W) and Electrosport (35W) stators, but they don't seem to be available anymore, pretty much everyone is out of stock it seems.

Like I said I need this as the cornerstone to my little project of a YZF 426 Street-Legal supermoto (I live in Brazil btw, it will be interesting getting a license for this vehicle here) - any pointers?

* Anyone still making or with those in stock?
* Could I just modify my original stator and/or flywheel to provide me with more DC power?
* Perhaps some other stator from newer YZFs is compatible? (i.e., 2005 yzf 250)?
* Anyone wanting to sell me theirs, in case they have it?

Klaus,

Your best bet is to find a flywheel and stator from a '01-'02 WR426....this should have enough power for you. You'll have to modify the stator to float the ground, get a regulator/rectifier and a small battery if you want DC power.

Look up Ricky Stator. They do custom work.

Last I recall, though, I think they had some reluctance to wind a YZ426 stator for lights. They can set your WR400/426 stator up for your YZ, though, so the setup from a WR becomes even more attractive.

using the WR parts is the only reliable worth while option. We now stock the WR parts for making the conversion. We float the ground and modify the stator to work with the YZ CDI box.

Excellent news Ricky, I am definitely interested. Any chance you could ship it to Brazil?

And would you recommend the floated ground? My understanding is that it makes starting the bike easier, but any other benefit or drawbacks? My intention is to couple it with a street-legal kit such as the ones below:

Yes we can ship to Brazil. We can also float the ground for you at no charge. Either one of those kits will work good.
