Bronze bucket inserts

Just wondering if anyone has done this, my head is damaged after rod snapped, mate is going to mill it out I think 1.5 mill and turn a phospherous bronze bush for the bucket to ride on ? ....

Ever seen it done ?

No. Normally, shops that repair that kind of damage build up the gouges by welding and restore it that way. Alternatively, I've seen aluminum sleeves made for this sort of repair.

If you pal is going to bore it 1.5mm, than the walls of the inserted bushing will only be .75mm thick. Doesn't sound practical.
