Need some help on gytr exhaust purchase and quiet core...

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was going over the yamaha eccessory web page and I ran into a bit of confusion on adding the quiet core insert to get the exhuast under 96db for trail riding.

this is for the '12 wr450

On this page it has a part number for the insert listed to make the exhaust 95.5db. It says"

". 95.5 dBA with QuietCore™ Spark Arrestor Insert (33D-E46C0-T0-00), sold separately."

http://www.yamahamot...0/0/detail.aspx

However when you go to the page that has the insert. it says:

"Sound level is 95 dBA on 250 models and 97 dBA on 450 models.

http://www.yamahamot...0/0/detail.aspx

So, I'm not sure if this combination will even make the bike trail compliant or not. There is this insert but has no real details.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Doug

first of all.. Are you talking about the powercore or the 4.1? I have the 4.1 where the insert is held in with a clip ( Not listed for the wr ) and i run it without any inserts and its VERY loud. well over 100db so im not sure how much the insert will do. Also do you have the oval or hex style muffler? The hex is lightly quieter.

I haven't ordered yet. Yamaha just sent me a $200 off coupon for accessories when you buy a new bike. I'm looking to take advantage of the deal but its not worth it to me if the pipe won't make 96db or less.

Are we talking about the fi bikes? First thing if not already done is to uncork the bike by getting this ( http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/products/modelscitemdetail/5/210/1222/5389/2013/1/11369/0/0/detail.aspx ) and this ( http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/products/modelscitemdetail/5/210/1222/5389/2013/1/9245/0/0/detail.aspx ) Which you will need if installing the pipe anyways. If the powercore cant make it to 96db with quiet core (im sure it will) then a db dawg will for sure.

Sorry about that. The bike is '12 wr450.

I do have all the other goodies covered. They will be here Wed.

If your real worried about sound levels you could could use the $200 to get some more goodies like handgaurds and radiator braces and get a fmf q4 or leovince. But the gytr should make that 96 db limit. If it doesnt you could get yourself a db dawg like i said before.

This was when I first installed mine last year...
