Changed the engine oil and filter on my 09 yz450 bike for the 1st time today. When removing the oil filter a spring also fell out. Unsure where it came from. my guess is it was sitting between the filter and the engine. Is this right? If so how do i get it to stay there so i can put the filter back in. Waiting to go out for a ride so want it fixed

There is no spring that belongs in the oil filter housing of any YZF as a separate part. The filter itself has a bypass valve built in, and there is a spring involved with that, but it should stay with the filter. Discard both and install a new filter.
