Drz Gear shifter problem

I have a Drz 400 sm 2005 right.. The gears change fine and go up gear fine and down but when I knock it down gear the shifter gets stuck in the down postion and doesn't spring back up ? You have to nudge it with your foot and it clicks back into the normall postion gets very anoyying after a while help? Is there a spring somewhere what malkes it come back up

I know what you mean, I also have a 2005 DRZ400sm and just today my gear lever started doing exactly the same thing and its very annoying...

Yes there is a spring that can be worn. It works as basically a little wheel on a lever that fits into grooves on the shift drum that can eventually wear out and cause sloppy shifts. I believe you can get to it by taking off the left side cover and you should see the mechanism. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that)

Hi everyone. Just put the cases back together and am stuck on the shifter.

Is a index mark but where does it go in accordance with the guts. Changes gears just fine till I get messing with spring thingy.

Forgive my terminology, will point screwdriver at it.
