Backfire on the throttle...cutting out

I have a 98 400yzf with the same exact issue. I have tried most of the remedies described here. I recently installed a new spark plug (which I believe is the correct one) and I'm still experiencing this issue after the engine gets warm. Anxiously awaiting an update before giving up and taking Old Blue to the shop...

It seems that the valve adjustment and correct sparkplug combo has my problem sorted. I did a 2hr XC race in the mud yesterday and put it through its paces without so much as a hiccup. I did however FRY the brand new TUSK clutch kit expanding the theory that cheap almost always ends up costing you more. OEM stuff is on the way.
