I have a 98 cr500 that i had sized. i belive it may have been poor jetting but my plug looked perfect..... it also had a crazy amount of vibration, i know 500's do vibrate i have a a couple and ridin some of my friends and they did not have a filling dropping shake like this one did.  so were starting over after a good amount of $$ im basically re building it all 90.50 wiseco piston, powercore2 silencer, fmf gnarly pipe , full gasket and oil seal kit, hot rod crank kit(complete crank), boyesen power reeds, bored over port and polished clylinder, and all new berings.

so now i need help were should i start with jetting main 175 neddle is set on the notch that makes the needle the shortest.

also my clutch is a mofo to pull its not the cable its not the basket its not the arm the cable ataches to so &%$#@! the basket is not notched out or anything so...

aslo any break in tips would be great!

this is my bike before.... its been about 8 months since i could ride her.....

My recommendation , i dont think its a good idea to attempt a break in and fumble with jetting at the same time, the ideal 500 break in would be done with stock 89 bore, exhaust and stock 175 jetting, its very VERY important that the bike run properly for the break in period. But ill try and help you with what you have. So...Jump that main jet to a 180 (better too much then not enough) for now and you can dial it back if needed later. Also move your needle clip to second position (that is stock), this should be a good starting point at least for the break in period.

This is a good article for 2 stroke break in

A lot of people have a lot of different methods for breaking in 2-strokes, regardless of what people say a 2 break in is not the same as a 4. And displacement makes a difference. Others will say, "thats to many steps" and "you dont need to do all that" I have a 89 500 that i am converting out of it's original frame to a 04 250f frame. You know as well as i do that parts for 500 are NOT cheap and some times not easy to find. Iv got $3500 JUST between my head and cases and im sure you have a lot invested as well. I wouldn't take the risk of ruining my investment by not taking my time.

As far as your clutch goes, if the cable is not brand new, out of the plastic, try picking up a cable luber and lubing it. If its not that check the clutch itself and cases. I know that if your running a late 89-91? clutch in it the side case for a 98 will not work as it is more shallow and will rub. If your entire motor is stock 98 check the micro fiche at bike bandit and insure proper assembly
