My son pulled off during his race yesterday. said his bike was loosing power and sounded like it was reving out but with less power. First thing i thought  was clutch. I could not hear anything during the race ,but it was enough to scare him out of hitting the 2 big doubles on the track.  Its a 2012 with 43 hrs. Stock clutch, still has stock piston. He is really easy on clutch's. Have never burned one out before. clutch lever feels the same as always.  What do ya guys think??? I think it still has the original spark plug. So im thinking start with the easy stuff. New plug.....Maybe a wet connector. We put dialeeletric grease in all the plugs to help prevent wet plugs. Did pressure was it the night before.  What symptoms do a crack in a piston feel like????
Any other ideas. Dont think its a TPS either. I have had that go out on my 11' . We sealed his all up and protected it with a boot .Guess i wont know till i ride it and it does it again.  Hate these wierd problems

Maybe bad fuel?? Did you run a different bike with the same fuel as your sons bike that day?

Good gas is important with preferably non- ethanol.  Oil is important, too.  Additives in some oil that may be helpful to cars aren't helpful to our clutches.  I think if the revs were up but power was down it sounds like it's time to pull the clutch, caliper the plates and, if they are in spec comfortably, clean them up.  If it were mine, I'd just clean the steel plates and put in new friction plates with high performance springs.  I always use Tusk and never had a problem, FWIW.
