Hey guys, picked up a '10 last weekend and I feel like I have an issue with the rear brake.... Doesn't feel as firm as my last bike.... I came off a 07 KX250f and just had to barley touch the rear brake to make it catch, it was real firm.... On my RM-Z it doesn't feel like as much is there..... I've put new pads on and we've changed the fluid and bleed the brake system, also adjusted the brake pedal down a little bit, that's another thing, the pedal tip feels small compare to others I've been on.... Is that just the way it is with the RM-z? Anyone have any idea about the brake issue?

we have a 12 rmz 250 and an 07 kx250f - both "rear" brakes feel the same as in not soft. Both are completely stock. Maybe the rear brake cylinder needs a rebuild kit on the internal plunger. Maybe to the seal to the cap on the reservoir has a pinhole somewhere? Adding  a Steel braided line will decrease fade and decrease softness. Also maybe the rear brake line needs replaced from breaking down internally? Prob not, but a thought.....I'm also assuming your using the correct fluid and bleeding correctly.

Thanks for the reply, how does your pedal on the RM-z feel compared to the KX250f? To me the KX250f feels like it has a bigger tip.... Just wondering if that's just me...

Holeshot...its actually the opposite of what your thinking......suzuki brake lever pad is 39.3mm wide, while the 2007 Kawi is 35.7mm wide....while the kawi seems to be a bit further away from the case and the suzuki is a bit closer.....thats due to the bend and shape of the lver itself.......this would give the feeling your describing.....the further away from the case it is the easier to find, thus feeling like its bigger......

Thanks for that, we tried to move it away from the case by moving it down but it didn't help....I guess I'll have to get an aftermarket one with a bigger tip....

Have u tried adjusting the break pedal so its higher? I run mine atleast a 1/4" higher than the foot peg. Its great cuz u dont have to push it so far down when ur standing and it makes it easier to drag the brakes too.

When I got it was already so high that it was on the case!... It very well could be that I've got a bent brake pedal.... Wouldn't think it would rub on the case like that.

Well, I rebuilt the rear MC, bleed the brakes and I'm still hardly getting any brake pressure, have to put a lot of force just to get it to catch... Anyone have any ideas?
