2012 wr450 exhaust? What fits

Recommended Posts

Well first off do you mean the header or muffler? I kinda doubt any previous WR or YZF header/muffler would fit, as there is no other combination of that motor and frame out there, plus the fact the motor is tilted back in the frame vs previous WRs.

What are you looking to do? Why not just pick up a muffler made for the 2012? The stock header already has a power bomb type chamber on it, so no real benefit of changing that, unless you go to a mega bomb, not sure how much different/better that is vs power bomb. Not worth the money IMO, just get a slip on like FMF Q4 or Powercore.

Previous poster that stated any 06-09 YZ450F (or 07 to 11 WR450F) will fit is correct. Any pipe, from any manufacturer for those model years WILL fit the 2012 WR.

Also.....Swapping out the stock header will definitely make a huge difference in power output. The stock header may have a power bomb type header but it's the diameter and length that affect power....not the pre-silencer.

If you want substantially more power get the aftermarket header with your silencer as well.

Some people should really think a little harder before they post. If you know for a fact...state for a fact. If not, I think you might want to start using "I would imagine", 'I believe" or "I think" somewhere in the body of your post.

It'll stop the drastic amount of mis-information that's floating around on this board.

What is 'substantially more power'? Got any dyno results of a power/mega bomb vs stock with the same muffler? Personally I don't find the bike lacking for power, but as always, YMMV.

It's been my experience that full systems specifically designed for a particular bike can still be PITA to fit up & install, so sue me if I was a little skeptical about one designed for a different bike with a different frame etc bolting right up. That said, from a consumer standpoint this is good news as it means more choices for anyone looking for a pipe/muffler.

To jdlorance there's not on thing on here that states 2012 wr 450 and what pipes fit what. Other than 2011 and older. You can under stand where I'm coming from. The 2012 being a completly different bike 250 frame 450 motor, fuel injected. Now tell me with a yz 450 header being bigger diameter fitting into a squished up 250 frame. It was more so who has done it and knows for 100% sure??????

hey caucho was that to tune it to the akro pipe

It appears to be the maps he's chosen to run with the Akra pipe. Looks pretty aggessive on the ignition side but it's all in how you like your power delivered.

Do the 06-09 YZ and the 09-11 WR MUFFLERS fit the 2012+ WRs ?

If the 06-09 YZ mufflers have a larger header, how does one make a 06-09 muffler work with a 2012+ WR ?

I'd like to put a FMF Ti Powercore with silencer on my bike, but they only make them for 09-11 WRs, not for 2012+ WRs.    I called FMF and they said it would NOT fit... but he couldn't tell me why.

What are my options here ?
