I'm currently in AFG, we just got a salvaged (wasn't running, a guy canibalized another to get it running, it isn't on anyones books so can't just have the mech fix the prob) 2011 Polaris Crew Diesel 4x4 and am having an issue with it.  Motor runs fine, but having prob with either the trans or the transfer case.  I have a Trailblazer 250 at home and am familiar with the belts/clutches.  Problem is as follows:

Hard, really hard, to shift, replaced trans cable, but often times you have to rock it in gear to get it to be able to shift out or into reverse.

Sometimes it will not go when in 2wd, will barely creep, sounds like it is slipping a little, but if you switch into AWD it goes fine.

Just wondering about the difficult shift lever and also the possibility of transfer/trans problems.

Any help identifying possible problems would be great, I have searched to see if there were the same problems/symptoms out there but can't find anything.

Thanks

Jim

You probably have a clutch alignment issue. There are shims behind the secondary clutch for adjusting the alignment between the primary (engine side) and secondary (tranny) clutchs. If the shimming is incorrect, the belt is forced to the side of the primary and it makes the belt drag and unintensionally turn the transmission over. If the secondary clutch is turning over at all with the engine at idle, this is your most likely problem.
