what about js7 and dm18 at the Daytona mud race. First and second.

Were they riding the new 14? No. Take another look at the pictures. Im not that stupid. Analyze things a little better before you make a smart remark

I dont think thats the issue at all. Brayton finishes 6th last night and is 9th overall with the field as stacked as it is this season how much better do you really expect Brayton and JGR to do? Brayton is a great rider but he has never been a Villipoto, Reed, Dungey or even a Canard for that matter. I think Brayton and JGR are doing very well considering they are a non factory team and with how radical the new yz450's are. I know they have some factory support and they have huge resources themselves but I would still say its a few notches below a full factory effort in my opinion.

looks like yamaha are getting as far away from the KISS principle as possible.

they are now getting into the territory of becoming an "unconventional manufacturer"

these design features are what i'd expect from a boutique european enduro bike.

not happy as it cuts down my buying options to only 3 brands now.

yamaha dealers have almost all gone from my area, only 1 left. :(

I remember a lot of this type of reaction when the yz400f came out. Electric bikes are coming to. And in the very near future they will be what we're all riding, and there going to be awesome. Although ktm has betten Yamaha to the punch on trend setting for once.

Exactly dude just asking to get dirt mud and water in there. Its a stupid design. You guys get so defensive over your brand...chill

I got defensive because you said this to me. "Analyze things a little better before you make a smart remark ".

What air filter doesnt get dirt/mud? What a stupid remark. And water? Its higher than the traditional air box so should that be an issue. If a bike is submerged to that extreme, your filter getting wet will be the last thing on your mind. As far as washing goes...cover with tape. Problem solved.

here is a better pics780_010512pressday020.jpg?1325818738

Good eye, never knew they were getting extra air through the top of the air box this season. I think that's a great spot, that area never gets real dirty. I also think the production 14 will have a similar gas cap set up.

Gncc bikes dont get that dirty? Hell half the mx races in the fall/spring are mud pits in ohio. All i was saying is that i think its a bad design. Which ill leave it at that, because im not buying one so who cares. I just feel yamaha keeps moving further and further in the wrong direction, as do many others.

We get that you dont like the yz450 we get you dont like Suzuki's and we get you love your brand. Everyone else's design is dumb. We get it. Thats what im saying just move on and enjoy your bike then.

I bleed blue as some would say but this air box design is dumb to me as well. I dislike it from it's much harder to put a bigger tank point of view. Not to mention if they keep it where you have to pop off the top of the tank to re-fuel how am I to get a dry break on there?????? Like someone said some of this stuff is getting a little to designer/european MX only to me rather than easy operation bullet proof Yamaha. No doubt this stuff in one of a kind but I as a consumer am not looking for one of a kind i'm looking for functionality. Seeing as how it's hard to argue that this bike will be leaps and bounds better than the current competition I would rather stick with a more conventional bike set up. I'm starting to feel like how I did when I found out Santa was not real lol. From an off road stand point the dam punkins keep looking better and better

The Yammie has been getting great results over here and Aussie, maybe Yamaha should stop letting Americans ride them, they don't seem to be up to it!

LOL, that was funny

I will take my 2011 YZ450 over the new WR450 any day, after i test rode one... but I am starting to have the same problem as the other member, the pumpkins (and also the GasGas) are looking better to me every year and I might go back to a 2 stroke for my next bike.
